Quick Facts
China is one of the largest agriculture and agri-food consuming countries in the world and it has a dynamically evolving economy. The explosive growth of the Chinese economy has created fabulous opportunities for countries such as Canada. The fast growing Chinese dairy industry was hit hard last year by the tainted milk scandal. What is it going on in China now? Canadian milk and dairy products are world-renowned for their excellence. Enforcement of strict quality standards in dairy farms and in processing plants contributes to this international reputation. Where are the business opportunities for Canadians? The Chinese government recently regulated its policy. Large private companies are allowed to invest in foreign countries. We have received many calls from Chinese investors who are interested in investing in the Canadian agri-food industry. What does this news mean for your agribusiness? After several successful agribusiness missions to China over the last few years, this highly interactive Canadian agricultural mission to China has been specially designed to help Canadian organizations and businesses such as yours learn more about the world’s most dynamic agricultural and agri-food industry and to discover new opportunities. Canada-China Agriculture and Food Development Exchange Centre (CCAgr) is working with Canadian partners and Chinese partners to organize the first ever – Canada-China Dairy Industry Seminar during China’s 7th International Agricultural Fair and Investment in Canadian Agri-food Industry Seminar in Beijing and Guangzhou. We are honored to have Dr. Doug Yungblut, P.Ag. vice president of Agricultural Institute of Canada, past-president of Ontario Institute of Agrologists, animal nutrition expert as the delegation leader. We are also privileged to have Mr. Byron Beeler, honourary member of Canadian Animal Health Institute, past-president of Ontario Institute of Agrologists, past president of Novartis Animal Health Canada as the project special adviser. Their guidance in the development of this project has been invaluable.
